You’ve probably all heard the term ‘hemorrhoids’ before, but you might not know what they actually are. Here is a brief description of hemorrhoids so you can begin to understand what people who suffer from them go through.
Hemorrhoids are very painful and itchy bleeding or swollen tissues or varicose veins found inside the rectum or anus. You can get hemorrhoids by straining too hard when trying to move your bowels on the toilet, you can also get them during pregnancy, old age, severe constipation or anal sexual activity. You can get either external or internal hemorrhoids. Internal hemorrhoids occur further up inside the anus, so you are unable to see them. If you begin bleeding from your anus you should get checked by your doctor as you are most likely suffering from internal hemorrhoids.

External hemorhoids are able to be seen on the outside of the anus, they can become very red and swollen which makes it very uncomfortable for a person to remain seated.
In some cases and internal hemorrhoid can be pushed through the anus to be visible from the outside, this is a prolapsed internal hemorrhoid and is very painful.
A thrombosed external hemorrhoid is a blood clot that has formed inside an external hemorrhoid, these are extremely painful and feel like a firm mass about the size of a pea.
